Fårstol

Literally “Sheep Chair” in Danish, so named for the cloven-hoof-looking dado joint for the back support. Maple, cotton, leather, and steel buckles. The product of a summer studying in København.

This project had a few constraints, but the more constraints one has, the easier the project can be. It could not exceed 80cm in any dimension (31.5″), and I could only use a slab of maple 4cmx20cmx160cm for the structure of the chair (the seat and back could be made of a different material like cloth or plywood). This is an extraordinarily small amount of wood, so the project quickly became one of material economy.
